Pilgrims' comments

  • Last great place before Santiago

Marcelos is such a nice host, he gave me one bed out of 14 in the room upstairs, the bunk beds are very quiet with separated lights and power outlets. Downstairs there is a room that was used by a family. All guests ate dinner together, he even prepared something special for a vegetarian. You should defiantly stay here, get your wax stamp and look for the (good) ghost. Bed at booking was for 20 Euros, Dinner 18 Euros and wax stamp for donation.

  • Lovely stay

Marcelo takes very good care of his guests. The Albergue is clean and comfortable and the meal is delicious. No special rate for those who started before Galicia.

  • Great dinner!

Wonderful home cooked meal by Marcello, just the thing for hungry and tired pilgrims. Very well located in a quieter area of the town.

  • Couldn’t get a response

Tried to get in touch with them and never got a reply. My WhatsApp conversation still shows “unread”. Sounded like a good place but got there and waited only for him to say Full. Thanks for nothing but wasted time

  • Best stamp on Camino

Marcelo is a great guy- very funny and super smart. Makes a real Italian red sauce and fresh salad. He definitely has the coolest stamp of any albergue I visited. Nice guy, cozy place, def recommend.

  • May 2025

Simple but clean albergue. No dinner or breakfast was available this day. Large room with 15 beds. Sheets and towels were provided. One bathroom. Very convenient - right on camino.

  • Genuine Pilgrims Alburgue - Fantastic experience

It’s in the details. Marcelo is a gentleman and a fantastic cook. As a pilgrim himself he did a Camino (the first of many he has done) and he wanted to make a life running an Alburgue. There is a three bed room downstairs and bunk beds upstairs. The rooms and bunks are clean and very comfortable. The bunks big enough to sit up and not bash your head. The bathrooms are clean and spacious too. You can cook a meal or eat Marcello’s Italian style pilgrim dinner (highly recommended). We laughed all night and shared tales of the long paths we have all been on. Stay here it’s a treat and a real pilgrim experience. Thank you Marcelo for a great stay. We will return. xox. Regards, Portland and Helen.

  • Best Spirit of the Camino!

What a gem! Marcello runs a warm and personal Albergue. It’s clean with 3 beds on the ground floor and several upstairs. Large bathrooms. He’s walked different routes of the Camino many times. He also serves a lovely communal meal at night with wine and dessert. Highly recommend this place.

  • A Great Stay

We entered the town and wound our way to the trail leading out of town, and there was our little oasis! Marcelo greeted us and made a real wax stamp for our credentials ❤️ Upstairs: Bunk beds that are tall enough to sit on and long enough for tall pilgrims. Each bed had an outlet and light. Clean sheets and comforters too! But, let me tell you about the splendid dinner! Marcelo treats you like family and the Italian pasta with a huge fresh salad was so tasty. Wine and bread was abundant. Flan for dessert. Thank you for the wonderful time.

  • Disappointed, unfortunately

We chose the private room and pilgrim dinner. Both disappointed. The private room had a private WC that was only accessible by walking through a cramped public area containing the reception, kitchen and dining area. Awkward. Both were a little shabby and other guests assumed the private WC was shared because of its location. The meal had one option: a bowl of pasta (good, but average), a salad (good but average) and a small store bought flan. We’ve had many similar or better meals for less that, for example, included more options and homemade desserts. The owner was friendly and accommodating and meeting other pilgrims was delightful, but in the future we’d choose another place to stay.

  • Súper !!

Very Nice stay here. Soft beds and also curtains for privacy. Everything is very clean. Nice clean sheets and even a towel!! A hanging basket in front of the fireplace for your boots. So nice… in the morning warm dry boots to put on. Marcello made a beautiful Italian dinner. Very nice to share dinner with other pilgrims. That’s what’s the Camino is about. Thank you so much Marcello and go on like this. You are the best on the Camino. Un cordial saludo Elisabeth

  • Stay Here! Great food & music, real wax stamp! 5/2024

Stay for the communal dinner! Marcello is a great host! He cooks great pasta, it’s homemade! Honestly, one of the best meals that we’ve had on the Camino. We ended up with the VIP room! Clean room with real sheets & blankets. The place has charm & character. Loved his selection of music which included many genres. We would stay again. Highly recommend!

  • Great stamp; nice, warm welcome

Nice restoration on an older building; beds and bathrooms were substantial with privacy curtains a plus. Marcello was not cooking the night we stayed (a Friday) so we were disappointed, but we found excellent pasta at “Pasta,” a local restaurant. We paid for laundry service but our clothes weren’t dry; fortunately, the heat from the wood-burning stove dried them overnight and our fellow guests were okay with laundry hanging everywhere!
